Hope this help and if anyone has any suggestion re the Nostromo or getting the Kensington to work I'd really appreciate it.With the release of macOS Big Sur, on Thursday, November 12th 2020, Apple retires Mac OS X (10) and replaced it with macOS 11. The only other thing I'll mention is that I already had a Caldigit TB3 hub which I'm using again now, all my peripheral drives, controllers, 1 monitor and ethernet are plugged into it, really can't recommend it highly enough, great bit of kit! What this means is that by swapping over just 2 cables (the main TB4 and the HDMI) I can swap out my computers between the Mac Mini and The Mac Studio, a fairly hasle free process Over all, it's bee a surprisingly easy install, even all my NI Kontakt library installed pretty well (without the need to re-install all the libraries from scratch).

In the case of the Nostromo, I had a ll my often used keyboard shortcuts saved as single key strokes for left handed use which meant that I rarely had to touch the main keyboard, now I'm finding that muscle memory can be VERY frustrating The Trackball is also a pain as - although the MacOS recognises it as a mouse and it still works - the beauty of the device rested with the Kensington Works productivity app that allowed me to asign keyboard function to any of the 4 key on the trackball and although the software installs (after disabling/reducing the Mac Studio's security settings) I still can't get it to work, I hope Kensington update this soon as it's a big PITA for me - the last version was for Big Sur so fingers crossed. 2 bits of gear that are integral to my work flow, the Razer Nostromo game pad and my Kensington Expert trackball don't work, The only real issues I've had are all Monterey related (3rd party vendors) and actually NOT audio related. Until I discovered that I couldn't open any of my old music sessions, at first I thought the culprit might be Guitar Rig 5 but after a little digging I discovered that the problem was TC VSS3 reverb which was part of my default template, this was interesting as it's actually a newer build than the MD3 and MD4 TC plugs (which work fine).

I started by booting the machine and registering it with Apple, I then added a new volume to the internal drive via the Disk Utility app and installed a fresh version of Monterey minus all the extraneous stuff Apple include out-of-the-box, Waves Mercury works fine, FabFilter works fine, Valhalla works fine and even Serato Pich n Time pro works fine (phew!) overall it was a very smooth install. I took delivery of my Mac Studio last week and pretty much had it up and running to about 97% within 2 days.
